John Steven Gurney, illustrator and author and a presenter for the Children’s’ Literacy Foundation (CLiF) visited the students at Peterborough Elementary School. The children learned about the importance of persistence. He talked about when he was a young boy and how a teacher had a positive impact on his interest in illustrating. John shared his books and illustrations from when he was a boy and how it developed to the present day. He shared with us that sometimes he needed to redo, edit his pictures many, many times to get them just right so they would be published. He has persisted. He didn’t give up and we were inspired and thankful that he didn’t.
