Students at PES learned a little bit about Vincent Van Gogh in Ms. Compton’s art class this week. Following a discussion about one of the world’s most recognizable paintings, “The Starry Night”, and a little bit about Van Gogh’s work, life, and style, students in 3rd and 4th grade got the chance to create paintings using tempera paint.

After school on Tuesdays, 3rd and 4th graders are challenged to create, collaborate, build, and problem solve during Lego Club. This week’s challenge was to build a floating vessel and see how many pennies it could hold without sinking. Last week, they worked independently first, then with a partner, then in small groups, finally as one big group to create their Lego World.

A second grade student was recently a guest reader in our First Friends PreSchool class. She is pictured here with the class and the book that she read to them.

Students returned from the extended Thanksgiving break to a winter wonderland! They enjoyed sledding, building snowmen, and trekking through knee-deep snow during recess.
