2 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf
Wacky hair day during Spirit Week at PES.
Mrs Carrs first grade learned about lunar new year today! Miss Buinicky showed us the dragon dance and we played head shoulders knees and toes in Chinese! We made our own paper lanterns and wore red to celebrate the year of the tiger!
Today, 2nd grade had some very special visitors to their classrooms! In conjunction with one of the reading units on service and therapy dogs, they had a therapy dog and trainer visit! Melissa and Canyon, from ColdSprings Healing Paws, joined the classroom this morning so students could see and learn firsthand what it takes to train a therapy or service dog. Students asked great questions, got to see Canyon do some jobs, and those that wanted to, got to give him many pets. One of the facts that the students were very impressed by is that Canyon had to train for over 10,000 hours to be a therapy dog! Melissa also trains service dogs and the students learned that they live with her, training, for 22 months before they are able to go with the owner who needs them. It is always such a pleasure for me to bring real life experiences to the classroom for the students. The kids were amazing and so engaged the whole time our visitors were here. It was amazing the calm that was over the room while Canyon was here. Thank you to ColdSprings Healing Paws for coming!
Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and the School Board’s Strategic Planning Committee encourage community members to complete surveys to help the ConVal School District to develop a new strategic plan.
Strategic plans act as a roadmap for the District to follow during a five-year period, highlighting specific projects and goals for long-term sustainable growth. The most recent strategic plan was created in 2016 and lasted through June 2021.
The survey will gather input about long-term strategies and goals that are most important to community members. Data collected will help the District to shape a strategic plan that reflects community priorities.
The survey is open to all stakeholders – parents/guardians, students, staff, and residents of Conval’s nine sending communities.
“We ask everyone to take a few moments to complete this important survey,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said. “This input is vital in guiding the District to develop a strategic plan to serve our students that reflects the goals and visions of our community.”
The survey is open and will remain live through Tuesday, Feb. 1. To take the survey:
