Many classrooms at PES offer flexible seating for its students. Flexible seating allows for student choice, collaborative learning, comfort options for a variety of learning styles and needs, and it helps students focus on the task at hand.

PES staff members are ready for the start of the school year. We were waiting for students with smiles on our faces, and we are looking forward to a great year!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope you are ready for a great year; I know I am! My goal is to work with students and staff, parents and community members to ensure the learners of PES thrive in an environment where they feel known, needed, and cared for, where they are challenged academically, where they are celebrated for their individual and collective growth, and they are recognized for being respectful, safe, and kind.
In order for our students to be most successful, it is important that the lines of communication are open. Parents (and students) are encouraged to contact teachers and administration with questions regarding your child’s education. Every staff member has a voicemail, an email account, and a webpage allowing for dialogue and communication. The school and district webpages and Facebook pages are another great source for information and communication. And of course, please feel free to contact me, introduce yourself if you are new, and join us in the many events we host each year.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 28th. I look forward to meeting and working with you and your child(ren) during the 2019-2020 school year.
In the spring of 2016, NH Department of Environmental Services issued recommendations for voluntary testing of lead in drinking water at all schools and daycares. This action was in large part a result of lead toxicity to children from the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
On February 8, 2018, Governor Sununu signed Senate Bill 247 Prevention of Childhood Lead Poisoning. This law requires, among other actions, that all schools and licensed childcare facilities test lead in drinking water at all locations where water could possibly be ingested by children.
The ConVal School District contracted with a State of New Hampshire approved water testing vendor to perform the testing in all of our schools. A total of 590 fixtures were tested according to DES protocols. Any location that was found to be outside of the acceptable levels has been labeled and clear signage has been affixed to indicate that this is not to be used for drinking water. It is important to note that the areas that have signs are not areas where students would typically drink water.
The first round of testing was required to be completed by July 1, 2019, and to be done every 5 years thereafter.
Listed below are the results of the sampling at your school that was completed in 2019.
Students in Mr. Rothhaus' and Mrs. Iwanowicz's classes got to explore the Millipore Curiosity Cube this week.
The Cube is a large shipping container that has been converted into a mobile laboratory. In it students could inquire about various elements, explore the human body — skeleton, heart, and lungs — with 3D goggles, and get to work with an electronic microscope.
“The Curiosity Cube program began in 2017, as a platform to increase access to science education in elementary and middle schools,” the Millipore website explains. "The concept of The Curiosity Cube is actually based on our Curiosity Labs™ program, in which our employees go into classrooms and conduct hands-on experiments with a class.”
“With the Curiosity Cube, we’re able to extend our impact beyond the classroom and reach even more students and their families.” You can read further details about the Curiosity Cube here.
Millipore Sigma is a global science and technology company with around 52,000 employees working in more than 66 countries and a diversified portfolio of over 300,000 products.
This week we celebrated National Principal's Day. Here is the video that was made to help convey how much he is appreciated at PES.
